I have quite a few series that I have started with some vague general intention of finishing.
Thanks to one of my goals last year, I did manage to complete or unhaul quite a few series. Not as many as I started though which is where my series goal this year comes in.
To make measurable progress, I need to quantify the series I have on the go. I will start with my 2024 series stats and then back up and give an overall view of where I stand on series.
In 2024, I started 93 series. Yup.
Of those series, I finished or DNF’d 22 of them, meaning that I added 71 series to my ongoing series total.
Aside from just the series that I started, I finished or DNF’d 31 series that I had started prior to 2024, bringing the net added down to 40.
Of that remaining number, I have read all the books currently published in 26 of them bringing the net added down to 14. That’s a much more reasonable number. With as many series as I have ongoing though, I would love to have a net negative number in 2025.
Now for the overall numbers.
I have a total of 135 series that I have started but not yet completed.
Of those 45 of them I have read everything currently published, although a few of those have sequels due to be published in the first half of 2025 so they will shift over to the “In Progress” column.
That means, if I want to accomplish my goal of having a net negative number in 2025, I need to finish the year with a maximum of 89 series in the “In Progress” column.
(I have decided to not include series I am caught up on in this number since I cannot finish a series if the whole series has yet to be published.)
Hopefully, I will be able to start chipping away at this number which, remarkably, isn’t quite as high as I thought it would be!
