It’s time to make plans for what I will read in the last month of 2024. Unlike the past couple years where I have still had several books left to read for my Goodreads Choice Award project, I have finished everything for my two main categories. (If I wanted to read the whole of the historical fiction category as I originally stated, I would have quite a few left to go. Since initially reacting, I have decided to make that goal optional.
Two other things drove the creation of this TBR – the completion of my yearly goals and anticipation of my 2025 goals. (I will talk about those more in a post to come.
Let’s start with the books for my 2024 goals.
1. Series to start – I have just one left, Theft of Swords. I have put this off because initially I could not find an audiobook and that is how I have accomplished most of my reading lately. Now that I have finally found an audiobook and time has run out in the year to get this one read.
2. Buzzwordathon – I stretched this pick a little when first choosing the books since the buzzword is “holiday-related” words. Thus I’m connecting “eve” to “Christmas eve”.
3. 24 in 24 – These are the final two books, the ones that just happened to be the last two standing on that shelf.
4. Nonfiction – I chose two from my owned tbr that I knew I have audiobooks of. (I hate how timely the book on the right is right now.)
5. Reading Rick Riordan Presents Books
I do not have any more physical copies of these books but I do have eARCs for all that have published recently and are upcoming thanks to being auto-approved for Disney Publishing on NetGalley so I will choose one of those like the one pictured here.
6. Clearing off pre-BookTube Series
While I will not finish this final series in this category this year, I will make progress. (I had a few other series on the list but made the executive decision to DNF those since I had no interest for them.) After reading Days of Blood and Starlight, I will have just a novella and trilogy conclusion left.
The next section consists of all of the historical fiction (and a few from other categories) that I own. I may also read some that I do not own from the historical fiction category. I have these six to choose from that I own physically.
This last section of the TBR is the part that looks towards my 2025 goals, which I mentioned before I will discuss more in-depth in another post. IN a nutshell, I would love to catch up, or at least make serious progress in two types of backlog that I have: book box books and ARCs. Of the ARCs, I am not sure which ones I will get to so I will not list them here but for the book box books, I have chosen one from every subscription that I have except for Owlcrate which I have just recently resubscribed to and Book of the Month because most of the historical fiction nominees I own come from there.
Broken Binding – The Lies of Locke Lamora
Caffeine and Legends – Dark Water Daughter
Comix – Buckle Up
Fairyloot Adult – The God and the Gumiho
Fairyloot YA – City of Nightmares
Goldsboro – Dragonfall
Illumicrate – To Cage a God
Inkstone – The Sword Unbound (technically a sequel but still purchased from Inkstone)
Litjoy – The Dallergut Dream Department Storm
Who knows how many of these I will actually get through. Wish me luck!
