Monday, 68 minutes, 7.87 miles, spin bike, 12 miles, .65 miles walking
I felt really strong on this run. The form felt great. I made sure to pay attention to my body as I run, something I’m trying to work in more after reading “Peak” and learning about intentional practice. The ride felt pretty good too. (Admittedly, I do not remember many of the details because I did not write about the run and ride on the day of.)
Tuesday, 68 minutes, 7.76 miles, spin bike, 12 miles, .68 miles walking
I had planned to run outside on the track at school today but I forgot to charge my Garmin. Yeah. I have an issue with that. So I headed home and ran on the treadmill. My legs did not feel as fresh today as they did Monday, understandably so. However, I focused on form and the minutes went by quickly. Same for the bike.
Wednesday, streak mile, 1.47 miles, spin bike, 12.2 miles, .56 miles walking
I planned a time trial to figure out half marathon training paces but after witnessing an attempted coup on Congress, I could not fathom attempting it so I ran a mile to maintain the streak. While running, I wanted to keep running, to pound out my emotions with each footstep. However, I took too long to get started so I had to keep it short. I could have ridden longer on the bike but again, not enough time.
Thursday, 68 minutes, 7.82 miles, spin bike, 17.2 miles
All I remember (writing this on Friday) from the run is that it felt harder than I expected. (I did not realize that I forgot to finish the entry on the day.) I kept plugging away though and got it done. Took a break halfway through the ride just to get myself through. (I need to work on my mental endurance on the bike.) I planned a longer run since I wanted to get to 25 miles for the day for the 25th Amendment.
Friday, 68 minutes, 7.82 miles
Since my team reached the end of region 5 before I finished my miles and I knew they would, I contemplated running a shorter distance even while. on the treadmill. Ultimately, I told myself that I would decide based on what I felt as I ran. I checked in periodically and felt good each time so I went for the full 68 minutes. No ride today but I’m back at that tomorrow.
Saturday, long run, 15.46 miles, spin bike, 7.80 miles
Mom and I had to run separately today. Due to several coworkers testing positive and not taking proper precautionary measures in the time between their exposure and their own positive tests, Mom took the high road and did what they should have. With all the events of the week taking up lots of my mental energy, I chose to run on the treadmill to simplify things, especially since I did not have anyone to run with. This marks my second longest run on a treadmill. (My longest of 16 miles took place years ago, back when I worked at the bank and needed to get in a Saturday long run before heading to work.) Even though it lasted 2 and a half hours, it did not feel that long at all. I think that I can chalk most of that up to the work I have put in working on my mental stamina.
Initially I thought about trying for at least an hour on the bike. I ended up settling for 30 minutes, listening to my body.
Sunday, streak mile, 1.71 miles, spin bike, 20 miles
My legs felt fairly fresh, not springy but fresh for the mile. I took it easy. I also took it easy on the bike but surprised myself with how quickly it felt and how good my legs felt.
